I love that so many of my couples in 2019 travelled to cottage country to get married, just like Cassandra and Kyle! They left city life for the weekend to kick back and enjoy their wedding in Haliburton at one of their favourite spots! I am seeing this trend more and more, it’s like wedding tourism where couples are gravitating to the places they are connected with outside their current home towns whether its a family cottage or a special getaway place they experienced before to create even more special memories in that spot.
This fall wedding at the Bonnie View Inn had the best display of colours, literally the oranges and yellows just melted into every scene of mother nature. C + K had previously visited the Haliburton highlands and knew that a weekend away surrounded by their family + friends (and fur babies) was exactly what they wanted their wedding experience to be.
I could go on and on about the rustic vibe of this wedding- all the little details that fit in so perfectly with the grand display of mother nature. The birch wedding arch was literally the perfect touch!
Can we talk for a minute about a PIE bar??? I come from a line of amazing home bakers and seeing this display had me drooling like no other! Let’s just say I’m not mad about this trend cause this girl would definitely pick pie over cake any day of the week! And yes, this is always an argument in my household — which is the better PIE or CAKE?? While I’m partial to a good coconut cream pie, apple and raspberry are a close second!!
And while we are chatting food- I’m not going to lie- one of the perks of being a wedding photographer is getting to indulge in some amazing foods and the Bonnie View Inn in Haliburton definitely topped that list. I remember 12 years ago sampling food at my top choice wedding venues, but oh how I wish I had of had the experience of this gourmet meal! Incase you’re wondering– the butternut squash ravioli is to die for 🙂
