Kawartha Winter Engagement Session

January 1, 2019

Engaged couple embracing each other on a snowy road in the country

So I’ll be the first to admit it, I don’t actually love the cold weather in Canada BUT this winter engagement session gave me a renewed love for photographing in the great outdoors. You know that meme, why do I live where the air hurts my face?? Well normally that is me in winter, you can say I sort of hibernate 😉

Snow greeted us early this year, which honestly couldn’t have been better for this lifestyle session we had planned months ahead. Yvonne + Cody had the best locations in mind, both Adam + Eve rock in Buckhorn and Kawartha Highlands Provincial Park. The light dusting of snow combined with the greens and oranges of nature were picture perfect as they say… Not only did we get to enjoy the beautiful surroundings but we also got to watch a beaver swim down the river right below us, not once but twice! Which was pretty amazing to see right up close and they are much bigger than I would have imagined in real life.

These two wonderful humans were open to all my engagement session antics- penguin walking and all! We explored nature which is the great part about a season change in a familiar space, as it gives a totally different visual with a snow dusting. This snowy winter engagement session has given me a renewed sense of photographing couples in winter because I was reminded how freaking beautiful it is, regardless of the cold- yup Laura suck it up!. But also for the win, the cold weather gives couples one more reason to cozy up, connect and share in some snuggles to stay warm giving you the sweetest images of all. So as this new year starts I’m optimistic for this winter, and even while its a tad muddy right now, I’m throwing it out to the universe- bring on all the winter sessions, I am game.
