For years I photographed newborns posed, wrapped and accessorized to the nines but looked back at each session as a creative feeling like something was missing. It wasn’t until I started to explore lifestyle photography that I realized what I felt was missing: the realness of family, new love and rawness that life with a newborn brings.
Lifestyle photography by definition (Wikipedia) is a kind of photography that mainly aims to capture portrait/people in situations, real life events or milestones in an artistic manner and the life of the every day. THIS is what speaks to my creative soul. Once I started approaching my newborn sessions in this manner, what I captured for my clients sparked so much joy. My clients love looking back on the images of their babe captured in their home; capturing a place and a time in life that is so fleeting yet so wonderful. I love capturing not only the details from the dark wisps of hair, to the peeling little toes, the nursery but also the connection that forms in the first few weeks with a new babe in your arms.
