I grew up visiting our family cottage here in the Kawarthas, and still to this day love all activities on the lake- boating, swimming and paddle boarding. So combining two of the very things I love– water + photography in this lakeside engagement session made for a pretty stellar combination at sunset.
Dylan + Meredith (+ Dox) and I hung out at their waterfront property on Sturgeon Lake just outside Bobcaygeon. As you can tell, no fun was had 😉 I mean isn’t a paddle boarding dog just the cutest thing ever! Dox literally just hopped right up there and was ready for his ride– he was right on point with his vogue poses too.
During our session, Meredith mentioned “this photoshoot is so us” and I swear my heart swelled a thousand times over. I honestly wish this for every couple I meet- to immerse yourself in something totally you and then let me capture it! I get it, having a camera on you while cuddling on a paddle board as the neighbours are on their dock wondering WTH is going on… yah it can be strange, but these two totally embraced it and laughed like crazy. This carefree, go with the flow attitude leads to the BEST images and I can’t even wait to continue the laughs on their wedding day. It’s really the only piece of advice I give to my couples for their wedding day is to just be present and do you, these two totally have that under wraps!
If you are considering a lakeside engagement session I’d definitely recommend scheduling it just prior to sunset to get this dreamy golden light. Watch out for wind too– this night the water was super calm, which makes for this dreamy texture in the water. To set up your session, and grab some other tips contact me here!
