Jodi and Kyle so graciously agreed to be my models for this lifestyle photoshoot, not only travelling from Cobourg on a weeknight but with three total cuties in tow! These kids are total troopers and so freaking adorable!!! Between the twirls, daddy’s stinky feet jokes, and bubbles there were a lot of laughs and smiles shared.
I send a family welcome session guide to all my clients with some tips on making our time together awesome. I always get asked what to wear for family sessions and these guys totally nailed the outfits- complimentary colours popping throughout all the outfits without being too matchy-matchy. Neutral clothes work so great for photography sessions to keep the focus on the expressions and the kiddos!
I love photographing kids in a field not only because visually its awesome –the greens popping and the golden light flaring in through the trees, but also for little ones it gives them lots of space to roam. Space is key for a lifestyle session; the ability to explore and capture the in between moments gives me a chance to catch flickers of their little personalities. As a parent, the things that we take for granted now – perhaps the way they make the silly cheese face, the furrowed brow look, the way they suck their thumb or twirl their hair is what we will cherish some day in the not so distant future. I have an image of my boys from last summer hanging in our hallway of the three of them sitting together in a chair, my youngest with a soother in his mouth. Normally when taking pictures the soothers go, but looking at that image now I love that I have at least one moment captured of who he really was at 2. That little boy loved his ‘soose’ (soother) so much that it was really a part of him in that moment in time. Looking at that image floods me with such a beautifully nostalgic feeling that I will forever cherish which is why love this nontraditional style of photography.
There were so many of these candid, lifestyle type moments from our shoot it was really hard to narrow them down to a single blog post. But here it is, the moments captured of each of these little ones, just how they are.
